Polymer Boat Rollers for Smooth, Controlled Launch & Recovery

Kaybin manufactures custom polymer boat rollers for trailers and launch systems where smooth hull support, impact resistance, and long-term durability are essential. Each roller is machined or moulded to your dimensions or sample to protect the hull, guide the vessel, and withstand harsh outdoor and marine conditions. Poly are manufactured in specific fluorescent orange and Green.

Function & Typical Applications

Supports and guides the boat hull during launch and recovery

Reduces drag, impact and point loading on the hull and trailer structure

Helps keep the boat centered and aligned on the trailer

Resists water, UV exposure and mechanical shock in outdoor environments

Used on:

boat trailers and slipway trolleys

centre keel, wobble and side support roller assemblies

custom marine handling and docking equipment

OEM marine systems requiring durable, non-marking hull contact surfaces

Material Options

Boat rollers are manufactured from engineering polymers selected for toughness, resilience and hull compatibility:

Polyurethane (PU elastomer) – high impact and abrasion resistance, excellent resilience, available in non-marking grades

UHMWPE / HDPE – low-friction, abrasion-resistant, ideal for sliding hull contact in wet environments

Nylon and other engineering plastics – used for roller cores, bushes and structural components where additional stiffness is required

Materials are selected based on boat size, loading, support configuration, environmental exposure and hull coating type (gelcoat, painted, etc.).

Operating Conditions
Designed for:

Repeated launch and recovery cycles on slipways and ramps

Continuous exposure to fresh or salt water, UV, temperature variation and road contamination

Static and dynamic loading from trailered boats under braking, cornering and rough road conditions

Applications where non-marking contact, impact resistance and long service intervals are important

Correctly specified boat rollers help protect the hull, improve handling on the ramp, and reduce wear on trailer structures.

Engineering Details Required                                                      To specify the correct boat roller, provide:

Boat type and approximate mass / length

Roller type and position (keel roller, wobble roller, side support, bow stop, etc.)

Required roller diameter, length and bore size

Support frame details (shaft size, bracket style, mounting method)

Operating environment (fresh/salt water, typical ramp conditions, exposure to sunlight and road debris)

Any special requirements: non-marking colour, extra-soft impact behaviour, high-load duty

Kaybin then selects the appropriate polymer configuration and manufactures boat rollers to your exact specification for reliable operation across South Africa and Africa.
