Industrial Plastic Wheels & Conveyor Rollers (Nylon, Acetal & UHMW)
Kaybin manufactures industrial plastic wheels and conveyor rollers for material handling, trolley systems, process lines and OEM machinery where controlled rolling motion, load stability and wear resistance are required. Components are machined or produced to drawing, CAD file or sample and configured with appropriate hub, bore and bearing interfaces.
This page covers industrial plastic wheels and rollers only — not castors, automotive wheels or forklift tyres.
Primary Applications
- Conveyor rollers and idlers
- Trolley wheels and guide wheels
- Track rollers and support wheels
- Chain return rollers
- Process line transfer rollers
- Heavy-duty industrial handling wheels
Material Options
Material is selected according to load, speed, environment and chemical exposure.
- Nylon (PA6 / PA66) – strong, impact resistant, suitable for higher radial loads (moisture expansion considered).
- Acetal (POM) – high dimensional stability, low friction, tight-tolerance bore control.
- UHMWPE – very low friction and high abrasion resistance for sliding/dirty environments.
- Polyurethane (PU) – impact-absorbing and noise-dampening for shock duty.
- Polypropylene (PP) / HDPE – chemical resistance in compatible service.
- Glass-filled grades – increased stiffness and creep resistance (duty dependent).
Diameter & Size Range
Common industrial size references include 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 150mm and larger diameters. Custom diameters and face widths are machined to specification.
Hub & Bearing Configurations
Hardware interface design is critical for correct load transfer and service life.
- Plain bore (clearance or interference fit)
- Press-fit bearing insert
- Double-row bearing configuration
- Spacer tube assemblies
- Keyed bore hubs
- Set-screw hubs
- Retaining clip systems
- Metal core reinforced hubs (where specified)
Load & Duty Segmentation
- Light Duty – low radial load, intermittent service.
- Medium Duty – continuous industrial handling.
- Heavy Duty – mining, bulk handling and shock-loaded environments.
Design review considers radial load per wheel, rolling resistance, surface speed and creep behaviour under sustained load.
Nylon vs Acetal vs UHMW (Quick Comparison)
| Material | Load Capacity | Friction | Abrasion Resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nylon | High | Moderate | Good |
| Acetal | Moderate–High | Low | Good |
| UHMW | Moderate | Very Low | Excellent |
Common Failure Modes
- Flat spotting from static overload
- Bore wear or shaft galling
- Hub cracking under shock load
- Bearing seat loosening
- Creep deformation under sustained load
- Surface scoring from contamination
Correct material grade, hub design and bearing interface reduce premature failure.
