Polyurethane Wear Pads & Slides
Kaybin manufactures custom polyurethane wear pads, slides and wear strips for conveyors, chutes and bulk material handling equipment that require low-friction, impact-resistant support instead of direct metal-to-metal contact. Each wear pad or slide is machined or moulded to your dimensions or sample to carry load, control movement and protect steelwork in demanding industrial environments.
Function & Typical Applications
- Provides low-friction sliding support between moving parts and guided components
- Protects frames, beams, chutes, bins, hoppers and guides from wear and impact
- Reduces noise, vibration and shock transfer into structures
- Used on conveyors, loading chutes, guide rails, transfer and loading points, loader buckets and OEM machinery in mining, aggregates and general bulk material handling plants
Material Options
Slides and wear pads are manufactured primarily from:
- Polyurethane (PU elastomer) – high impact and abrasion resistance, good cut and tear resistance, available in different hardnesses to match load and sliding duty
- Hybrid constructions – PU bonded to steel or other substrates where bolt-on or welded backing plates are required for secure mounting
Hardness, thickness and backing design are selected based on load, sliding speed, impact level and operating environment.
Operating Conditions
Designed for:
- Dry or wet sliding conditions with repeated impact, loading and unloading
- Exposure to bulk materials, aggregates, ore, grains, packaging and general plant debris
- Indoor or outdoor use with temperature variation and occasional chemical or washdown exposure (grade-dependent)
Correctly specified polyurethane wear pads and slides help extend equipment life, reduce maintenance on structural steel and improve running smoothness.
Engineering Details Required
To specify the correct polyurethane slide or wear pad, provide:
- Application and mounting details (fixed pad, replaceable liner, guide shoe, etc.)
- Required pad size, thickness and bolt pattern (or drawing/sample)
- Load conditions, contact area and impact level
- Sliding speed and stroke/frequency
- Material handled and operating environment (dusty, wet, chemical, outdoor, etc.)
Kaybin then recommends the appropriate polyurethane grade and backing design, and manufactures wear pads and slides to your exact specification for industrial and OEM use.
